Evacuation Update

Several months ago, we were shocked to hear that as many as 50,000 ethnic Nuban people (mostly Christian) were still trapped in what remained of Sudan’s hollowed out capital, Khartoum.

Considering the war had been going on for a year and a half at that time, and Khartoum was basically leveled, we were sure most everyone had either gotten out one way or another or sadly perished in the violence.

But with this new information, we began mobilizing to see if it was possible to locate and get anyone else out.

Not only was locating people difficult (most were in hiding) but the route to get them to safety was constantly changing.

As of late March, we are happy to report that 665 additional lives have been saved— mostly women and children.

Our profound thanks goes out to our ministry partners who have contributed so generously to ensure we evacuate as many souls as possible. We’ll continue to report throughout the year until the window of opportunity for rescues closes.
