“Sweeter than Honey”

Honey receives a tarp to cover her home.

Many of our partners asked us for an update on how the lady, Honey, whom we featured recently in our communications, is doing. We wrote about how this brave woman lost a leg and two of her children in a bombing in Khartoum.

Honey was concerned she would not be of much use to her family and community because of her disability. As she spoke to us, we noticed she was working on a crochet project for one of her friends. This gave us an idea. With our next shipment of shelter tarps, we included several spools of yarn and crochet needles.

Honey’s pupils learn to crochet.

Today, Honey is training women and girls in the camp how to crochet.

It is important to remember that when we talk of “needs,” we’re really speaking of people. It’s not about reaching arbitrary goals, or getting stuff from point A to B. Its about blessing others. Serving others. Being someones answered prayer or that encouraging word that keeps them going when everything else is telling them to give up.

Thats what you are. That’s what God’s love is doing, working through your active compassion. Thank you for serving the persecuted with us!
