In 2020, our Emergency Borehole Repair Team repaired 95 broken well pumps in the war-torn Nuba mountains of Sudan, and they have already repaired an additional 20 boreholes this year. Each working pump typically serves 1,000 people, as well as their livestock.
80% of disease in places like the Nuba comes from dirty water. Consequently, safe clean wells are a major support for the few understaffed and under-equipped hospitals in the region.
Since starting our repair project in 2013, our teams have gotten 828 wells working again. Your contributions to Persecution Project’s Safe Water Program keep our teams working year-round to save lives and improve overall community health.
