On October 20th, our third WALK FOR WATER was held at Olustee Park in front of the Columbia County Courthouse and the beautiful Lake DeSoto, with its perfect walking trail. We had a wonderful turnout from various denominations across Suwannee and Columbia counties in N Central Florida. Youth groups, seniors, children, young families, health care professionals and business people teamed up for Persecution Project Foundation to provide fresh, clean water in the Nuba Mountain Well Project.
The people of the Nuba are being ravaged by war with ethnic cleansing and genocide, and they pay a dear price for their faith. In the midst of this, they witness to their neighbors who do not know Christ, or who may even be an unreached people group, so they are also giving the most important ETERNAL Water of Life.
Two hundred participants registered for the walk. As walkers came off the trail, they were treated to a buffet in the First Baptist Church dining room overlooking the lake. Local food business owner donations were very much appreciated! We were even able to bless Lad’s Soup Kitchen with leftover fresh food that day. Over $7,000 was raised!
We, as area coordinators, also had the added blessing of meeting many new friends in the churches in which we made our presentation – and to be able to see the Body of Christ work together in unity for Kingdom work. We are trying to make good on being “spunky seniors” and to be “refired, not retired”. You are never too old to be about “our Father’s Business”!! May the Lord BLESS YOU abundantly in YOUR area to make a difference!
Together with you in the Harvest!
