For more than three years, the Nuba Mountains of Sudan have been under daily attack and bombardment. Most schools have closed, creating a major gap in the learning of children. But one community decided to make basic education possible for their children, regardless of the danger. Community leaders approached PPF and asked if we would support teachers willing to serve in war conditions. The village, in turn, would build a new school.
We were touched by their determination and agreed to help. A few weeks later, the school was built. It’s so encouraging to witness the courage and concern for the future generation that this community has. They refuse to let war determine their future.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
